This week we sit down with UKIN Caster, Dean0

We’re back with UKIN for Summer ‘21 and we’re going to sit down with community members, players and caster to discuss everything UKIN and Rainbow Six Siege!

This week we sit down with Dean0, one of our UKIN Summer ’21 Talent.

So, to kick things off, for those who might not know you, who is Dean0?

Hi, I’m a 21 y/o washed player turned caster who is probably best known for bad jokes and even worse hairstyles. I got into casting after taking a break from playing competitively while still trying to maintain some level of involvement in siege and the comp scene. From there I fell in love with the game all over again and haven’t looked back since.

When were you first introduced to Rainbow Six Siege?

I first found Siege through Youtube videos way back in year 1 season 4, I was finally able to get my hands on the game towards the end of Velvet Shell on Xbox before getting a PC to play Siege in Blood Orchid and its been my main game ever since then.

When you have time to play, who are your go to operators?

I try and mix things up as much as possible and explore what each op can do but the ones, I always fall back on are Buck and Jager. The simplicity and versatility of their gadgets make them solid picks to fall back on regardless of map or site, but you can’t go wrong with a bit of Smoke or Hibana either.

We are now in your second season of UKIN, what are you most excited about this season?

For me, it’s always watching the new teams and the underdogs and seeing how far they are able to go in a season. With 3 teams coming in from UKIN2 going toe to toe week after week against teams like Na’Vi, Cowana and MNM it gives us a chance to show off how good the grassroots scene in the UK is which is especially exciting for me as I’ve been casting some of these players from very early on in their careers up to now.

Do you have a favourite to make the Finals?

I’d love to see Viperio 86 make it to the finals as I’ve spent a lot of time casting them recently and the amount of progress, they’ve made is incredible despite the limited time that they’ve been together.

Beyond that there are a few players scattered about on the teams who I remember back when they played in the university leagues which is one of the places where I first started casting, so as long as at least one of them makes it to the final I’ll be happy.

Create your own team - you are the coach, what 5 players are you picking up? It can be any player Pro or Am across the world.

I’d have to include Ecl9pse as he’s the only remaining active player from the 2017 Invitational Grand Finals which was the match that really sold me on the esports side of the game and got me into playing Buck and Smoke. After that, I’d probably have to pick Nesk, Dan, Beaulo and Doki. I don’t know how much site set up would get done but it would be fun watching them all go for frags.

Any final comments or places for people to follow you?

I want to give a massive thank you to all the people who I’ve worked with and met in siege who have given me advice and supported me. Some leagues took a risk in letting an entirely unproven caster get involved in the ways that I was able to but all of that has paid off and gotten me to where I am today.

You can follow me on twitter @Dean0R6 where I promise that one day I will actually tweet more.
